About the event
Dr. Ellis will speak about the Wildlife Futures Program, which was launched in 2019 and promotes healthy and sustainable wildlife populations through a partnership with the Pennsylvania Game Commission (Game Commission). Wildlife Futures integrates disease surveillance with wildlife management and university-based research for a comprehensive wildlife health management strategy. The program is based within the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine (Penn Vet) and has an overall goal to leverage the expertise from management agencies (e.g., Game Commission) and across the Penn Vet and university to implement science-based, multidisciplinary approaches to address the myriad threats to wildlife health. By protecting wildlife health, we can also safeguard the health of the environment, humans, and domestic animals.
